    You also have to remember that time moves at a different speed on the island. Remember when the boat was anchored off the island there was a time delay….farraday said that time must move at a different speed on the island. this may also account for the birth.

    Just speculating…but in the spirit of balance is it possible that Sayid has either become young ben and vise versa or they have infected each other through the waters of the temple where they both have been healed.

    We know that young ben was shot by sayid in the 1970's and taken by kate to the others to be healed (we assume in the temple waters) and that she was warned he would loose his innocence. Now sayid, also shot, has been healed in the temple waters. Is it possible they have swapped parts of themselves or even all of themselves.

    So young ben in 1970's after being healed becomes ruthless and leads his people, doing anythig, killling and torturing like sayid.

    And sayid now seems much weaker and childlike, pleading not to be tortured, asking jack to help him and make decisions for him.

    Just speculating…but would be interesting.

    Yeah, I don't think so either… I actually think Aaron is going to be the vessel by which Jacob comes back in OR the next prodigy (the next Jacob). There has always been a mysterious shroud around Aaron, his birth, and his destiny (I recall that something or someone in the first few seasons was telling Claire that only she could raise the baby or it would be evil or something). We haven't seen Aaron that much and he hasn't been talking in front of us viewers, but he should be “growing up” as this stuff occurs on the island, and some change could be taking place that could lead him to be introduced to the main storyline once again. I think the writers are going to do this since Claire came back at the end of this episode, and the whole flashback where “Aaron” was yelled out by Claire and recognized by Kate shows that there is a “fate” element that the Lost writers want us to see.

    I also think Aaron and Walt are meant to be the Jacob and Smokey that we see now. I think that the island is always being ruled by two opposing forces of good vs. evil and that Walt and Aaron were meant to take over the conflict (by “fate”, probably–that is why they're all “connected”) that Jacob and Smokey are (seemingly) coming to a climax of.

    And, guys, Locke is no longer Locke. He is a vessel for that person dressed in black we've only seen once (on the beach with Jacob). If you remember, Jacob was wearing white, and he (what we can assume is the “smoke monster”) was wearing black which equals = symbolism of good vs. evil!
    [There is also a way you can compare the Lost story some of the Bible, but it could be very far-fetched... though I did see some one in the previous episode's comments say "Locke the holy smoke, Locke the son, Locke the father." The previous, good Locke is the son (remember Locke's daddy issues?) who has now become Smokey; Locke the father is Locke's dad who Smokey has not taken the form of in a while, and Locke the holy smoke is (obviously) the smoke. However, it's also a play-on-words that shows what (maybe) the writer's opinions are about good and evil--that they all eventually blur into each other.]

    smokey can take form of any dead person on the island, locke was his loophole to kill jacob,we see he turns into many different chracters like christian,walt,alice and of course eko.Thats why the chinese guys in the temple are trying to kill sajid as they believe smokey has 'claimed' him.i think we are going to see a huge battle in the next few episodes as smokey is trying to get back to his home which is the temple.

    so in lost the thing thats happening is that because they blew the island up in 1977 the things that led to them to go the island in the first place is not happening so they are going on with their normal lives for example jack had a kid
