    TVD has similarities with twilight.. i mean there were scenes that were not from the book and HAD SIMILARITIES with twilight movie.. (you know the scenes i'm talking about if you've watched twilgiht)…
    but i don't really mind too much as long as the story's getting more interesting…
    we should really stop playing who-wrote-this-first-and-who-shot-this-first you know…
    i like TVD and TS…

    the series vampire diaries is based off of a series of books that were written fifteen years ago, so yes, helen is right, it did come out before the twilight saga.

    Im so glad you said that Helen. Vampire diaries was first made around the 1990's. I think the first book was 89. Obv they cant stick to the book because they're making a SERIES people, so they have to change loads of it. Plus, stephenie meyer copied other peoples books and shows, she got most of her stuff off Interview with a Vampire, its a film, pretty good. Anyway. Yes, stop making comparisons, twilight is good, but the acting in it is bad, i mean, stefan and elena seem more attached, involved. Edward and bella, were like, well. They didnt play up to the part which made the first film a train wreck but the second film was alright, mostly cause of Jacob [ L ]. Dont get me wrong, stephenie meyers books are great, but its a shame how the films turned out, but the books are amazing, so is the host. Which will become a film 2011 i think. So anyway. no judging vampire diaries. this is an amazing series worth applauding, also Ian somerhalder, love him as i loved him in lost, stefan is breathtaking and elena is gorgeous (L). roll on 26th for ' A few Good Men ' episodee. :P

    and i think, maybe people need to accept that if you see something amazing, directors will take things from different soaps. its not copyrighted, but its not exactly approved of either, but vampire diaries have to stretch that bit more , and kind of away from the story line because its a series. and it needs to add things to keep it consistant. :)

    Kimmie, , everyone is allowed their opinion and also are allowed to voice it! I like both VD and Twilight for different reasons – I am permitted to say so. They both have their strong points with both having 'filler' sections/episodes! I freely admit that I would like an Edward/Stefan without the overdone brooding going on!

    On an open opinion forum people can say what they like, they don't have to wait for your permission to voice it! Get over yourself. People are allowed to burn their brains off working out the similarities or differences, it encourages discussion – if it helps you though, I don't give two figs about your opinion stop posting them!

    the vampire diaries is a great show but its a little dry honestly if you wanna watch a good vampire show watch true blood its so much better oh and all the shows with vampires in them are all very similar, they have vampires in them and they have the one chick that the vampire loves they all have the same basic plot line but everyone always watches them because they have different characters in each one

    I disagree with kimmie. A bit of healthy competition between shows/movies is good; after all, if they didn't have a good, loyal fanbase, then they will just be taken off air. They [the production/television/movie companies] need people to support them so they can keep running; VD and its puny budget would never be able to compete with Twilight if everyone just said 'I like them both equally', Twilight would just use its resources to gain the advantage, and I personally don't want VD to be taken off the air.

    Regardless, I think VD is better. The characters are so much more likeable and ALL the guys in VD are gorgeous. Whereas in Twilight hardly any of them are even good looking. And what about Robert Pattinsons stupid accent!?!?!?!? He had a much better, proper accent in Harry Potter; he was brilliant in Harry Potter with his lovely accent and Eton boy looks. And on the point off accents, why the hell does Carlisle have an american accent when he is english and then lived in Italy for several hundred years. If they can make Pattinson put on an American accent, so i'm sure it's not hard to make whoever plays carlisle put in an English or Italian accent.
    I am sorry if i'm moaning, but it is such a simple thing and it really really really annoys me.
    And just a few simple things could have made twilight soooooo much better; a few extra scenes, getting the accents right, a more outrageous plot.
    And VD makes me go OMG OMG OMG when I watch it. I just don't do that when I watch Twilight or New Moon.

    And also I have heard a lot of people complain about how VD is also not very similar to the books (although more similar than Twilight), but I don't think people conside that VD was written 20 years ago when everyone had perms and wore shell suits and had brick phones and went everywhere on roller skates. I don't know about you, but I don't know anyone who does that today, so obviously, it HAD to be updated.

    Really, I just prefer Pattinson as Cedric Diggory, although ultimately, I prefer Ian Somerholder and Paul Wesley <3

    “it is silly to compare shows” – if we compare shows, we must have an opinion on them. So we can write this as “it is silly to have opionions about the shows”
    As so i can prove that she is just contradicting herself –
    “we all have our opinions about the shows. She just emphasizes ….. it is silly to have opionions about the shows” She then says “they're both good stories”, which i think is an opinion.

    And Shetan is totally right. We should have opinions – opinions is what builds politics and we would all die without politics becasue they create the law which creates order. If we didn't have order, then the world would just be in a circle of ultimate destuction which would eventually cave in on itself as natural survival instincts of greed and selfishness take over, therefore ending the human race.

    PS Alisha, please don't take this as a personal dig at you, I only put this here because I wanted to add a comment about what Shetan said, and I though it would work better if I put it here :) , but then I needed to prove Shetan was right, not Kimmie, but I had to put the kimmie is wrong argument before the shetan is right argument to make the structure of the comment more logical

    because if you read the books you'll learn that he lives in italy before he even had his family and for the period that he's had his family (107 years) they have mostly moved to american places.

    I think the point is he was born and lived in England for at least 23 years untill he became a vampire. That's plenty of time to get that lovely cockney accent hammered into him. Once the human brain stops developing at 21 it become much harder to adapt a new accent completely. I think she has a good point. And don't
    tell me I don't know because I am a cockney and I live in the us. I haven't lost my accent at all and I am proud of it!

    Since everyone else is comparing vd and twilight, I may aswell too. Twilight is shit! I don't know why everyone wanks over it! It's slow, it's boring, the acting is awful, the cgi is terrible and Robert Pattinson? That dude is fugly! My husband and I watched the second one the other day cos we thought it couldn't be any worse than the first one. Boy, were we wrong! Vampire Diaries and True Blood are way better!

    Just shut up already! Personally I like all three but all I keep reading on EVERY episode is how much they hate twilight or how much this show is just like twilight. Woop de doo! haha Everyone has their own opinion on the show so just get over it! I feel like the comments should be about the episode. What they liked about it or what they didnt like.

    I mean…. This episode was intense. Was it not?
    It was probably one of my favorite episodes of VD. Gosh it kept me off of my seat! Now can't we please talk about the show instead of arguing? If not I wish there was some way to ignore all these silly comments… Goodness
