Based on the book series of the same name by L. J. Smith, The Vampire Diaries focuses on Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev, “DeGrassi: The Next Generation”), for whose heart are fighting two vampire brothers, one good and one evil. After the death of their parents in a tragic car accident, Elena and her younger brother, Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen, “Everwood”), attempt to get the feel to their new reality. The two are now living with their aunt Jenna (Sara Canning, “Smallville”), who tries her hardest to substitute their parents.


Hiding her grief from the world, Elena finds relief with her friends Bonnie (Katerina Graham, “17 Again”), Caroline (Candice Accola, “Juno”) and Matt (Zach Roerig, “Friday Night Lights”). In the meantime, Jeremy goes on drugs. When the school year begins, Stefan Salvatore steps into the picture at Mystic Falls High whipping up Elena and her friends’ interest. But this handsome and mysterious new student has a dark and deadly secret… he’s a vampire. Things take an unexpected turn when, at a bonfire party, Matt’ sister is attacked and left bleeding to death. Stefan seems to recognize the method of operating and has his suspicions concerning the attacker.

Returning home, he meets his older brother, Damon (Ian Somerhalder, “Lost”), whom he hasn’t seen for 15 years. Due to the fact that Stefan rejects their legacy, Damon holds him up to ridicule often creating war clouds. As luck would have it, Elena looks exactly like a woman his younger brother loved more than a century ago… a woman that he tried to steal from him. Now, the two vampire brothers are again at daggers drawn. This time, they are fighting not merely for Elena’s heart but for the souls of her family, friends and all the residents of Mystic Falls.     Just because you have nothing better to do but go through the 130some odd comments to find your question doesn't mean everyone else does.
    Like me, most people won't want to read every little detail.
    Question is, why does it bother you? Instead of being a decent person and answering their question you chose to post a useless comment with no other purpose than to put those people down. I have never commented before myself but can't seem to help myself with someone as obnoxious as yourself.

    Rawrr_fear me (that was funny typing that) but you are so right. You watch it, don't like it, and then stop watching it. You don't have to hate on a show if you don't like it, some shows just really aren't that good. I am a die hard fan of the Vampire Diaries series, they were amazing, all six of them, and yes, there are many many changes made on the show. (Elena's hair color, eye color, Meredith is missing, she doesn't have a brother but a baby sister in the books, Stephan doesn't want her [or at least he acts like it ;)] in the books, Elena had to go after him, Caroline doesn't meet Damon, Caroline REALLY wants Stephan, etc. etc.) BUT I really like it. It may be different, but its good. And its not COPYING True Blood or Twilight or anything else for that matter. The vampire diaries were written LONG before any of those books, but it just so happened that because of how good Twilight and True Blood are doing, that this was made into a show. :] Anyways, I'm done for now, can't wait until episode 3!!! I kinda wish that they put them on here the same day, but whatever. Thanks a ton Curcia :]

    I wanna enjoy Vampire Diaries because it had the possibility to be a great show, but if it's a whole TORN BETWEEN TWO BROTHERS, then I'm gonna stop watching because annoying girls like that piss the hell out of me!

    There are lots of vampire movies or shows... Some bad ..some even worse.. but this one is one of the better ones I have seen... I agree though that Stefan takes a lot after Edward... but the guy who plays the character of Stefan....plays him well..it doesnt disturbe me :-)
