    alex wasnt MEANT to die. if you understand, jacob has met every single person on the island. the gun wasnt meant to go off, it was meant to jam, and ben knew that. but jacob changed the rules and let alex die. as you see in previous eps where michael cannot die. because jacob has work for him. same as for alex, but obv jacob has his issues, and he messed up. but who knows, ben might have alterior motives of his own :D
