An effective way to search for legal torrents is to use the “Creative Commons” search term.
I’ve wrote an article on How to Avoid Fake Torrents Uploaded by MPAA and RIAA and several anti-piracy organizations that are constantly trying to trap people into downloading fake torrents.
The safest way to download torrents and no to worry about MPAA and RIAA knocking at your door is by download them from Legal Torrents Sites.
Check out the list:
LegalTorrents
LegalTorrents is a collection of Creative Commons-licensed, legally downloadable, freely distributable creator-approved files, from electronic/indie music to movies and books.
Linuxtracker
LinuxTracker is a FREE linux download resource .
Bittorrent
Although bittorrent has just launched a download store, there are many free downloads available out there.
Revision3
It is not a Torrent site technically, but the online video network utilizes BitTorrent like few others.
Vuze
The largest library of Hi-def videos. Fast, open and on-demand.
Legit Torrents
Another legal torrent site where you can find freely available Torrents, including video, games and Linux distributions.
Public Domain Torrents
features hundreds of Torrents from out-of-copyright films in numerous formats.
Etree
This site is provided by the etree.org community for sharing the live concert recordings of trade friendly artists.
If you know other free legal torrent sites feel free to comment and I will update the post. ![]()

I’ve never been able to use illegal torrents, I’m too scared up getting busted! I would rather not have to worry, so thanks for some alternatives! It’s better for the soul to use ‘creative commons’ software.

Frankly I’ve been using “illegal torrents” and I am a little worried about “MPAA and RIAA knocking at my door”. Thanks for the links here. They will be very good alternatives.

Surely if these organisations are uploading these files to catch you out, this is entrapment, tell them to sling their hook if they come knocking, it’s a load of crap! But thanks for the choice of alternatives…
