How to add Sitemap Autodiscovery in Robots.txt

robots.txtAfter the changes I’ve made to the robots.txt and removing some of the duplicate content from I’m starting to have more and more traffic from the searchengines.

I use on all my blogs the Google Sitemaps Generator Wordpress Plugin to easily generate my sitemap xml file and the latest plugin version lets you ping Google and Yahoo! each time you post.

Ask.com, Google, Microsoft Live Search and Yahoo! have announced support of “autodiscovery” of Sitemaps.

Now adding sitemap autodiscovery links in Robots.txt file just made it a lot easier for the webmasters.

How it works?

Create a robots.txt file if you don’t have one and put it in the www folder.

Simply add the sitemap url following the word sitemap like this:

Sitemap: http://www.yoursite.com/sitemap.xml

This will get your site indexed more faster and more easier.
