iPods are like Unix. The backgroud is was hard to change.
All of that changed when ipodwizard found an hack that claims to add a background to your 1st or 2nd gen nano (at the expense of dropping it down to the 1.1.1 firmware) have added customizable backgrounds with modder software iPodWizard.

Click Download to download the required iPod Nano Firmware.
You can change your background picture by loading that firmware binary in iPodWizard and changing index 78 picture.

I use a 2G ipod, I downloaded it, opened it in iPodWizard, and didn’t want to change anything, I clicked write to iPod it says “Can’t write the modded firmware to your iPod. Your iPod is remained untouched. Restarting your computer may help to solve this problem” I restarted my Comp, it didn’t help.

Well i found that if you have a later version of ipod wizard its easier to just load the binary file that came with the zip provided in the firmware editor. From there you can directly apply the moded firmware by pressing “write to ipod”
