Windows XP permanently logs some special events in the folder “\system32\wbem\Logs”.
If you have never read or used these log files you can disable the logging feature.
Start the registry editor by clicking “Start” -> “Run…” and type “regedit“.
Navigate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ WBEM \ CIMOM“. In the right window find the string called “EnableEvents“, double-click on it and change its value to 0.Now, do the same for the string “Logging“. Change the value to 0, click “OK” and close the registry editor.
Finally, you can delete all log files in the folder mentioned above.

If I did that would that prevent me from doing system restores if I ever needed to?
